Our Story

Wildrye was founded in 2013 from the idea that we could create a deliciously unique Montana Bourbon from Montana Non-GMO Super Sweet Sweet Corn, the kind you buy at your local grocery, grown on our multi-generational family farm in southwest Montana. This initial inspiration led to our flagship spirit, Five Drops Bourbon, from which Wildrye has grown.

Montana's abundant natural resources have inspired us to build a portfolio of spirits that highlight the beauty and uniqueness of our state. As you drive across Montana, you'll see rugged snow-capped peaks, cold raging rivers, wide expanses of barley and rye fields, deep rows of corn, beautiful fruit orchards, mountainsides full of huckleberries, abundant bees, and hills thick with juniper. This is what fuels our passion.

Starting with our Five Drops Bourbon, made with family-grown Montana sweet corn and Montana barley, we expanded to other Montana-inspired products. Our Old Tom Gin is crafted with Montana juniper berries, our Flathead Cherry Vodka features sweet cherries from Montana’s Flathead Valley, and our Rye Whiskey is made from Montana-grown and malted rye and barley. We also produce Ramsdell’s Parrot Rums from Montana beet sugar and Montana Apple Pie from Montana apple cider and honey.

At Wildrye Distilling, we are committed to continually pushing into the frontier, constantly seeking out local, delicious, and real ingredients to create unique and exceptional spirits.

Meet Our team

Sten

Sten Anderson

Managing Partner & CFO Founder

Sten grew up in Bozeman and has spent most of his life exploring the rugged mountains and wild landscapes of Montana and the West. He's technically an accountant and really loves a good spreadsheet (with a whiskey on the side).

Phil

Dr. Philip Sullivan

Chief Scientist & Whiskey Dr. Founder

Phil is originally from Tennessee and moved to Bozeman for college (and snowboarding).  He's combined his profession (dual doctorates in Organic Chemistry and Nanotechnology) and his heritage (Tennessee moonshiners) to create what is now Wildrye Distilling.

Born and raised in Bozeman, Ben loves everything Bozeman has to offer...especially the skiing and our whiskey.  Ben's MBA and professional experience provide an unique perspective on building efficient operations and procedures.
